Picture Book

A Picture Book is a beautiful marriage of story and illustrations.  Each enhances the other and together the whole is greater than its parts.

THE STORY:  In the rich tradition of fairy tales, this story shows how childhood is a time of discovery, of learning about one’s self in relationship to the world around us. Squeek begins his journey immersed in the innocent world of childhood where child and world are one. Through a series of adventures tied to the four elements, Squeek learns to assert himself in a world full of wonders and challenges. By the end, Squeek achieves a distinct sense of self separate from the world.

THE ILLUSTRATIONS:  Beautifully drawn with pastels, Squeek comes to life as a mischievous little mouse who is as enchanting as he is curious. The softness of the pastels combined with the boldness of the colors capture our imagination as Squeek not only runs into trouble but also gets out of trouble with the help of family, friends, and his own ingenuity. Each of the four elements has its own colored border:  fire is red, water is blue, air is yellow, and earth is green.
